BURN BARREL

For those who aren’t native to California or are just unfamiliar with it, there’s a distinct difference between the neighboring cities of Los Angeles and Orange County. This entry is about the latter.

Maybe it’s just me, but there are some things about The OC that just don’t sit right. Whether it be the constraints of suburban living in Irvine, the “bros and bro hoes” that infest Huntington Beach and Downtown Fullerton, or just the overall sense of entitlement I feel that a lot of the natives have, the OC can be pretty awful.

Despite it’s flaws, it so happens to be home to a few of my favorite pastimes and places like going to shows at Chain Reaction, shopping at South Coast Plaza, and/or spending a full day of magic at Disneyland. Hell, I even went to California State University, Fullerton back in the day (over five years ago to be exact)! A place that I particularly like is The Lab “Antimall,” which is where these photos and a set from a previous post were taken.  Call me a hipster, but this is one of the few places Orange County has that doesn’t scream “cookie-cutter” or feel straight up monotonous. If you’re ever in the area and have never been, I highly recommend you check it out. It has a lot of cool artwork, small shops and tasty eateries!

Still, there’s no place like home. “To live and die in LA.”
