THE DOMINATOR SHIPWRECK

THE DOMINATOR SHIPWRECK

I finally got around to hitting up this local spot in the South Bay with some people I truly adore. One of those people being an up and coming, ridiculously talented photographer, Randy Tran! Before I get to the hiking portion of this entry, I want you all to know how special this kid truly is (without going into too much detail).

I’ve heard so much about Randy from Sly, and finally met him when we all went on this adventure last week. I’ve befriended a lot of amazing people in my lifetime and he is nothing short of it. He fairly recently left his immediate family back home in Atlanta to pursue life in Los Angeles. Since then, he’s become a full time student and works part time at Aaron Brothers (how convenient) while running his freelance photography. I hear the dude can cook up some bomb pho too, but that has yet to be determined. All of that might not sound like much, but I didn’t mention that he’s doing this all at 18 years old, still in high school. What were you doing at his age? Everything I’ve done in my life seemed so minuscule after hearing about him. What I appreciate about Randy the most is his independent, hard working, free-spirited nature that seems to rub off on everyone he’s around (myself included). I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t inspired by him. You would be too.

I guess that leads me to our adventure? I could go on and tell you about our hike and the history behind this location, but you can go and find out for yourself. Instead, I’ll focus on why any of this matters to me. I’m not a big believer in destiny, fate or whatever you want to call it, but coincidence just seems like an understatement. I really can’t think of a better way to have met Randy and find The Dominator Shipwreck for the first time.

They are few and far between. They are hidden gems. They are what we should seek.
