HOME BASE

There’s something about “home” that holds a special place in our minds (and hearts, I guess). Whether you still live there or not, you can always look back to it for memories, good or bad. If they’re good, and hopefully they are, we learn to appreciate those experiences. Actually, even if they’re bad, we can see how those experiences changed us to be who we are today.

Home for me, is what I consider to be the greatest city in the world, Los Angeles. Despite it being overpopulated, the never-ending traffic, the pollution, (and whatever else people complain and hate about it), there’s really nothing like the City of Angels. We have the biggest diversity of cultures, and that alone is enough for me. However, for the sake of this post, let’s take that a step further. Specifically, in the world of sports.

Although we no longer have any professional football teams, we have two NBA teams. One of which is arguably the most celebrated teams in sports history in the Lakers, and their little sister, the Clippers (congrats to them for making it into the second round of the playoffs for the second straight year, but the Kobe and the Lakeshow is coming back with a vengeance next season). We have two awesome MLB teams in the Dodgers (Los Doyers, baby!) and the Angels (of Anaheim, technically Orange County). We have a hockey team (GO KINGS GO!) that had an insane comeback against their neighbors (Quack and whack Anaheim Ducks). We have the LA Galaxy and Chivas USA to cover soccer. Oh, and we have the rivalry between UCLA and USC!

…and that was just sports. You could imagine what I could say about everything else.

LA born and raised. LA till I die.
