Let’s take a moment to appreciate house pets, cats specifically. Before that, I have to point out that I was a “dog-person” my whole life, and still am for the most part. It wasn’t until I met my friend Danny’s cat, Ruby, that a spot in my heart opened up for felines. Not too long after that, I met Sly’s cat, Chad, and the rest is history. Cats are chill. Well, most of them at least.

Speaking of which, see more photos of Chad on Instagram via hashtag #lechadthecat.

SIDE NOTE | We ran into this cat on the way to the location we shot at, and he pretty much just followed us around. Named him Gary, which is just gray rearranged. Gary is a chill cat.

RANDOM RANT | I had a neighbor who was a stereotypical cat lady. She was old, alone, and took in every single stray cat that came through. It was like Tashirojima in that piece. Her cats would come into our backyard and fight. Sometimes they would do the dirty deed, and if you’ve ever seen or heard cat sex, you know it doesn’t look or sound very pleasant. She could also smoke a chimney out of business. I’m talking a pack a day. I had really bad asthma as a kid, so put two and two together. I lived next to her for over 20 years, and I used to hate her for all of that. However, it wasn’t until way later that I realized how sweet she actually was. I’m sure it had more to do with getting older, but this lady actually loved my siblings and I like her own family. Sort of like the grandchildren she never had. When I would come home to visit my family from my days in the Navy, she would always go out of her way to say hi. Eventually, I would sit down and talk with her every chance I could, and I’m glad I did. She recently passed, but in some strange way, I see her spirit in each and every cat. I don’t know.
