2014 NBA DRAFT | 26 June

That’s right everyone, this Thursday is the annual NBA draft. Lottery teams who didn’t make the playoffs last year are looking to make a splash by landing some franchise changing players, or trade their pick for veterans of the game. This particular draft is believed to be one of the strongest in NBA history, so you can only imagine the hype around surrounding it. My home team, the Los Angeles Lakers (obvi), are one of those teams hoping to win big on draft day after an abysmal season (worst in franchise history to be exact). With the seventh pick, the Lakers have to really analyze their options. While Andrew Wiggins (Forward) and Jabari Parker (Forward) are sure to be off the board, other players like Joel Embiid (Center) and Dante Exum (Guard) may possibly slip into our hands. Seeing as how teams may be reluctant to gamble on a center with injuries, or a guard who’s game is still unknown, Embiid and Exum are two players that would come in and make an immediate impact on our squad. If they’re also gone, which I assume they will be, the Lakers are probably left with either Noah Vonleh (Power Forward), Julius Randle (Power Forward), Marcus Smart (Point Guard), or Aaron Gordon. Beyond that, rumors around them potentially trading the pick have made their rounds. There are too many possibilities at this point, but I have no doubt that Mitch Kupchak has something up his sleeve!

As part of the NBA Draft, players show off their fashion sense by suiting up, and I must say, they’ve come a long way. In spirit of the draft, I decided to put together my own ensemble, and with the seventh pick, the Los Angeles Lakers draft…not me. With that being said, keep an eye out for the rookies who decide to step their dapper game up!
