BETWEEN A ROCK AND A HARD PLACE

FK106-002

Dearest Kuya,

It’s been a little over year since the world lost one of the greatest people they will never get the chance to know. For those of us who were lucky enough to have you grace our lives, let’s just say that this time of year means a little something different. I don’t even know where to begin. I didn’t really plan on addressing this on such a public forum, but I guess this is the only way that I can share just how much you mean to me, and more than likely, everyone else that knew and loved you. It hurt, and you better believe it still hurts. I thought I moved on, but as the holidays came closer and closer, so did the memories. In fact, I think about you pretty often, especially when it comes to dub/chillstep, Batman, Filipino accents, San Diego (in general), and of course, my dog, Hercules. I can go on for days, but writing this post is already painful as is. You were one of the most humble, generous, caring, and genuine people that I ever knew, and I guarantee it resonated in others the same way it did me. You always put everyone before yourself, and I sincerely wish we could have the slightest amount of selflessness you showed us. For that alone, we are forever indebted. Thank you for showing me what it means to be a friend. Thank you for showing me what it means to be a brother. Most of all, thank you for showing me what it means to be human. Life is short, but because of you, I’ve learned to appreciate the little time we get with the few people that we truly love. You will always and forever be in my heart, and at the end of my line, I can only hope to be half the man you were…

Love,
Francis Kenneth Anunciacion
