THE HEART OF COGNAC EXPERIENCE, DAY 2

THE HEART OF COGNAC EXPERIENCE, DAY 2

The second half of Saturday was easily the most action packed part of last weekend’s trip. We started the afternoon taking a macaron class at Mille-Feuille from the owner and executive chef, Olivier Dessyn. I’ve never baked, but Olivier couldn’t have made the experience any easier or better for me. I’m not going to lie, I was a little intimidated at first because of his status, and the fact that he was a French (I hear the French hate Americans), but like I said, he was chill, v chill. I never thought baking could be so time consuming and difficult, but man, did I learn quick! It takes a certain kind of person to have the patience for it, and although I’m not one of them, I most definitely have a new level of respect and appreciation for people who do. Scroll down to see my macaron making in action.

After the class, we went over to Broadway to catch my first very first show, Les Miserables. I never saw the film, I haven’t seen a musical since Alladin at Disneyland (LOLOL so good though), and didn’t know what to expect. I went in with a clear and open-mind, and that was probably for the best. The show was better than I could ever imagined. I won’t spoil it for you, but what I can say is the Jean Valjean actor killed it! I mean, everyone did well, but man, that dude can sing.

Finally, the end of the night was spent exploring and photographing the nearby area. I gotta say, Time Square was no where near as epic or poppin’ as I expected, but then again, it was pretty damn cold. Thankfully, my good friends at Singer + Sargent hooked me up with a coat to survive the 30 something degree weather (hey, I’m a “Cali” kid where it was 80+ degrees). After taking snapping some shots, we headed back to the hotel, but not without stopping by The Halal Guys for some chicken and rice first! Real talk, it was good, but not great (then again, I was completely sober). I’ll make sure to throw a couple back before I try it again.
