Aroha like Aloha, but with an “r,” is a restaurant of food and drinks hailing from the “island” of…

New Zealand (not Hawaii). Shocker, I know.

After a day at the shooting range, I had the pleasure of checking this place out with Gabi “The Most Famous Blogger of Montreal” (Dentelle et Fleurs), Lisa (By Lisa Linh) and her boyfriend/our photographer for the evening, Ken.

We had no idea what to expect as none of us had New Zealand cuisine before this experience.

Basically, if you couldn’t already tell by the pictures, issa delight!

Every. Single. Course. Was. Delicious.

Seriously, we were all surprised by how tasty and fresh the dishes were. To be more specific, fish goes from sea to table in less than 24 hours!!!

Don’t even get me started on the drinks. I’m getting hype just recalling it all.

…and the desserts?

Overall, I’d say Aroha finishes in the top 5 restaurants I’ve eaten at in 2017. Not just because the tasting exponentially surpassed our expectations, but the customer service and ambiance was next level. Chef Thomas and his staff really made the evening intimate with their personal recommendations and memorable conversation, and although Westlake Village is quite a ways away, I’d be more than willing to do it everyday if it meant another dining experience like this.

To be honest, it would be a disservice to recommend one dish over another, but if you put a gun to my head right now, I’d say go for the seafood!

Thanks again to Chef and the entire Aroha team for hosting us, and shout out to JS2PR!
